New Councillor Co-opted onto the Parish Council

At the Parish Council Meeting on 2 November 2022, Councillor Eddie Murdoch was co-opted onto the Parish Council.
After 12 years in the Navy, Eddie relocated from the Wirral to Astley Village in 1996, where he says he was made welcome and accepted by the people of Astley Village.
He has worked at Preston DWP, then at local business selling glass blocks at a bespoke tile retailer in Euxton, stacking shelves at Tesco and filling bean bags at a local soft furniture factory. He says this is when he found himself in the darkness of places, drinking excessively, eventually giving up the drink in 2009. After three years of volunteering and training he became a substance misuse practitioner, working for the NHS, at Chorley Matrix house. He has worked there for four years, before, he enrolled at Bolton University to become a Mental Health Practitioner, where he now support patients who are in crisis, in and around the Salford area.
He is married to Brenda and enjoys walking and meals out. They have one daughter and seven cats and says he now able to give something back to Astley Villagers and look forward to this new chapter of his life.
