NOTIFICATION OF TEMPORARY ONE-WAY PROHIBITION ORDER - SUNDAY 5 JUNE 2022

9th of May, 2022

You may be aware that the annual event Picnic in the Park is taking place in Astley Park on Sunday 5 June from 11am – 3pm to coincide with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. In recent years, popular events at Astley Park have caused issues for residents and businesses in Astley Village with visitors to the events parking on residential streets causing traffic, blocking driveways and double parking. Chorley Borough Council and the Parish Council have been working together to come up with a solution to this issue.

Chorley Borough Council have been granted a Temporary Traffic Order from Lancashire County Council to make Chancery Road a one-way system in the Northbound direction from the B5252 junction on West Way to its junction with B5252 Euxton Lane. This will allow cars to park on one side of Chancery Road for the duration of the event, which will hopefully help deter visitors from parking on the residential side streets.

There will be traffic signs and cones in place at each junction on Chancery Road to direct you through the one-way system for the duration of the Temporary One-Way Prohibition Order from 0600 hours until 1800 hours. We will return Chancery Road back to a two-way road sooner if circumstances allow and the prohibition of traffic is no longer deemed necessary.

Diversionary routes will be in place during the day on the B5252 to notify drivers and cyclists of which way to enter Chancery Road to gain access into Astley Village.

This is very much a trial and we would appreciate any feedback after the event to see if the changes help with parking in Astley Village.

We would like to thank you for your cooperation and hope that you can enjoy the event taking place in Astley park on the day. If you would like to contact us regarding any of the above information or provide feedback, please email events@chorley.gov.uk.
