West Way Community Nature Reserve

9th of May, 2022

As part of the development of the West way Spotrts Hub, Parish Councillors have discussed the West Way Community Nature Reserve with  representatives from Chorley Borough Council.

The Nature Reserve has been neglected to allow it to naturalise over the years, however, the dirt paths, boardwalks and jetties are now in a poor state of repair. The kissing gate has been dismantled and the boundary fence has been uprooted and left in a dangerous condition.

With the West Way Sports Dehave agreed to work with Chorley Borough Council on a project to carry out improvements to the Nature Reserve. This will include repair of the footways and jetties with the safety of small children in mind. It is also proposed to involve Buckshaw Primary School in the delivery of the project and a meeting will shortly take place with the Outside Play Lead and Forest School Lead) to discuss adding child friendly information boards etc.
